Our Story
A Family in Love with Greece
What started as family vacations became a way of life — and eventually, a mission to share the real Greece with the world.

Taki's Greece
Taki's love for Greece didn't start with a trip — it started with a life. Born to Greek parents, he spent his childhood summers running barefoot through villages, eating watermelon on the dock, and falling asleep to the sound of cicadas.
Greece wasn't a destination — it was family. It was yia-yia's kitchen, pappou's stories, cousins he only saw once a year. Those summers built something deeper than nostalgia. They built a connection to a place that always felt like home, no matter how far away life took him.

Jackelyn's Greece
Jackelyn's love for Greece came later — but hit just as hard. She first visited as an adult and was stopped in her tracks by the light, the warmth of the people, and the way a simple meal by the sea could feel like the most important moment in the world.
She fell for the details — the hand-painted ceramics in a Paros shop, the way a café owner remembered her order, the quiet magic of watching the sunset from a spot no guidebook mentioned. Greece didn't just win her over. It changed how she sees travel entirely.

Better Together
A wrong turn down a narrow lane in Santorini led them to a tiny taverna with no sign, no menu in English, and the best grilled fish they'd ever tasted. The owner pulled up a chair and told them about the island like only a local can.
That moment changed how they travel. They stopped following guidebooks and started following locals — asking barbers where they eat, shopkeepers where they swim, and grandmothers what to order. Every trip to Greece became a treasure hunt for the authentic, the unpolished, the real.
Friends started asking for their lists. “Where did you eat in Paros?” “What's that beach you found in Milos?” The lists got longer, the questions more frequent, and eventually they thought — why not share this with everyone?
That's Better Life In Greece. Not a travel agency. Not a sponsored blog. Just a family sharing the places that made them fall in love with this country — so you can fall in love with it too.
Our Promise
What Makes Us Different
Personally Tested
Every single recommendation is a place we've visited ourselves — often multiple times. If we wouldn't go back, it's not on the site.
No Sponsored Content
Nobody pays to be listed here. Our recommendations are based purely on our own experiences. That's a promise.
Local First
We prioritize family-run businesses and local artisans over chains and tourist traps. The best of Greece isn't in a brochure — it's down a side street.
